York County Farmers are gearing up for what should be a good year!
Farmers in the York county area said they escaped damage from the cold front that hit the last couple days. The forecast called for below freezing temperatures so the farmers were worried it would damage, even destroy this years crops. Lucky for them the temperature never got below 30, warm enough to prevent any damage.
An eastern freeze in 2007 wiped out most of York county's crops when temperatures got below 20 degrees. But this year farmers and experts have said a good crop season seems to be coming, that's if winter is over. York County historically ranks in the top ten in South Carolina peach production. South Carolina is the nations second-largest peach producer, second only to California.
